To be honest, I was waiting for the comparison of the Minelab Equinox 800 not with the Minelab CTX 3030, much less with the XP Deus. Don’t make me laugh. A truly interesting detector to be compared with the Minelab Equinox 800 is the Garrett AT PRO. That’s really intriguing! And it finally happened: here’s a comparison between the Minelab Equinox 800 and Garrett AT PRO + XP Deus. Continue reading
A chain is a very difficult target for any metal detector. The point is that the machine sees each chain link separately. And if your device can’t detect chains, it simply hasn’t enough sensitivity. But if on top of all this a chain is made of gold, your detector’s essential capabilities – accurate discrimination and sensitivity to super-tiny targets – should come into play. Here’s an illustrative test of how the Minelab Equinox 800 is seeing a gold chain. Plus, the similar test: comparison with an XP Deus. Continue reading
It’s time to know the whole truth about the new Minelab Equinox 800. Are you ready for it? Won’t you fall down in a faint, call a doctor, and all that stuff? So, here’s a comparison between the Minelab Equinox 800, XP Deus and Minelab CTX 3030. Note that the Equinox 800 is the cheapest machine among these ones. Continue reading
Whether you like it or not, but all of the wireless XP Deus coils come with the same circuit board. It doesn’t matter if it’s a 9-inch or 13-inch coil – electronics is one and the same. Besides, the old (black) coils are powered by identical batteries. The white coils also have similar batteries but between each other. And now think it over: what’s the difference between the XP Deus coils after all? Apart from the housing size and a number of winding turns? You can take such a circuit board, a battery and install them into the lower stem. Next, you’ll have a little left to do… just to make the simplest DD coil. And you’ll never pay $300-400 again for a coil! Here’s a photo report: dismantling of different XP Deus coils. Continue reading
How to tear down the XP Deus coil in order to replace the battery? The whole process will take about 5 minutes. And it’s even without being in a hurry, with consideration of all the details. Remember that it’s not difficult to open the bottom of the coil, but you should pay due attention to providing the latter with a proper seal afterwards, to prevent moisture penetration. Otherwise you will get more serious problems than an ordinary battery replacement. Continue reading
