GTX3030: Chinese-made fake Minelab CTX 3030. Did it really happen?

A GTX3030 metal detector appeared on Chinese websites. It’s strange but this one looks a bit similar to the already existing Minelab CTX 3030. Don’t pay attention, it’s just a coincidence. There is another name and no Minelab logo. So what claims can be made against the Chinese manufacturer? Minelab’s machine was released in 2012 whereas the release date of the Chinese-made unit is 2018. In addition, Minelab’s device costs $2,400 whereas the new Chinese product is priced at $198. I wonder whether Chinese could really fake the Minelab CTX 3030? Or they are selling e-waste in the likeness of a detector? Continue reading

Comparison: Minelab Equinox 800 vs Garrett AT PRO (+ XP Deus)

To be honest, I was waiting for the comparison of the Minelab Equinox 800 not with the Minelab CTX 3030, much less with the XP Deus. Don’t make me laugh. A truly interesting detector to be compared with the Minelab Equinox 800 is the Garrett AT PRO. That’s really intriguing! And it finally happened: here’s a comparison between the Minelab Equinox 800 and Garrett AT PRO + XP Deus. Continue reading

Does Minelab refuse to sell Equinox in France?

French metal detectorists from findmall.com are sounding the alarm. They have started getting their advance payments for Minelab Equinox machines back without explaining the reason. At first they thought Minelab had forgotten about France. Of course not, Minelab didn’t forget anything. The manufacturer has simply ignored France. Continue reading

Minelab Equinox 800 Secrets. Everyone should know this!

MD enthusiast DirtFishing conducted a wide-ranging Minelab Equinox 800 test. It’s really a valuable knowledge for all owners of this detector that will enable them not to waste time on experiments. For example, in which search program and at which frequency is the Minelab Equinox 800 able to locate silver at its max depth? Or, if the speed is increased as far as it can go, how will it decrease your machine’s detection depth? Anyway, if you already own the Equinox 800 or are going to buy it, these are the 3 must-know tables for you. Continue reading

Minelab Equinox 800 Gold Chain Test (+ XP Deus)

A chain is a very difficult target for any metal detector. The point is that the machine sees each chain link separately. And if your device can’t detect chains, it simply hasn’t enough sensitivity. But if on top of all this a chain is made of gold, your detector’s essential capabilities – accurate discrimination and sensitivity to super-tiny targets – should come into play. Here’s an illustrative test of how the Minelab Equinox 800 is seeing a gold chain. Plus, the similar test: comparison with an XP Deus. Continue reading
