New Metal Detectors: Quest X5 IDmaxX and Quest X10 IDmaxX

Manufacturer Quest Metal Detectors is known in the metal detector market for its affordable models. They never aimed to be the best in their category; they simply produced inexpensive detectors with average capabilities. However, at some point, this segment caught the interest of Nokta, followed by Minelab. Due to the resulting competition, today’s affordable metal detectors have features and capabilities comparable to mid-range and professional classes. And most importantly, there is now a wide selection of models to choose from!

The updated models now feature an IP68 waterproof rating, enabling users to submerge the detectors up to 3 meters underwater, broadening their utility for both casual and underwater treasure hunters.

In addition to waterproofing, the Quest X5 IDmaxX and X10 IDmaxX now come equipped with advanced Blade TurboD Gorila DD search coils. The X5 IDmaxX sports a 9×5″ coil, while the X10 IDmaxX is fitted with a larger 11×10″ coil, enhancing detection accuracy across varied terrains.

Another notable enhancement is the new four-section telescoping shaft. This redesigned shaft allows users to rotate the coil 90 degrees, providing greater flexibility for storage and transport. With an adjustable length range from 46 cm to 130 cm, these devices are now more compact and portable than ever before.

Finally, the control block’s design has been revamped. The connector for the search coil cable is now angled, increasing durability and reliability during field use. The rest of the detector’s features remain the same, retaining the familiar layout and functions that Quest fans appreciate.

  • I don’t trust Chinese manufacturers. Yes, yes, yes, I know what you’re going to say now, Quest is not a Chinese manufacturer but an American one. That all electronics are made in China. And all that blah-blah-blah. But who today remembers a manufacturer like Graund EFX? Its short history is a script for any Chinese manufacturer.

  • I don’t trust Chinese manufacturers also . i agree with 10k

  • The X-10 ID Maxx is a great detector with unbelievable depth and seperation for it’s price. I have owned 51 detectors and this one is close to the top as far as single freq. detectors go. I would compare it to the Nokta Simplex+ in performance. I am looking forward to their newest multi frequency machines .
