However strange it may sound, but the Minelab CTX 3030 owners feel indignant. Everyone has been aware of the fact the Minelab Equinox waterproof headphones connector doesn’t fit into any socket on other Minelab devices. But recently Minelab announced the price for their Equinox waterproof headphones — $130. Hence if you have two Minelab machines (turns out, there is a great deal of such owners), you have to buy also two pairs of headphones. Even despite the fact that these ones are identical, the difference lies only in the connector. Do you think Minelab did it deliberately or inadvertently?
By the way, waterproof connectors (hermetically sealed, pressure rated), designed for the same socket as the Minelab Equinox 600 and Minelab Equinox 800 are equipped with, have already become available for purchase. Such a thing can make any headphones compatible with your machine, plus any dirt-cheap adapters. But remember that the manufacturer surely won’t like if you are greedy and cut corners on their detectors.

This is an entire topic/field that some enterprising electronics man or hobbyist needs to help sort out. There should be no reason to own more than one good pair of headphones for land use, and one good pair of underwater use.
I recently came across this same issue. And no one it seems…has any clear cut answers! In my case I use the Koss Wireless Headphones on land with the CTX 3030 or my GPZ7000. Very nice…but not as nice as the Super Quality… Detector Pro __GREY GHOST AMPHIBIAN___ headphones I use underwater or in the surf on my Minelab CTX 3030.

I even see they both seem to make an adapter that has THEIR RESPECTIVE MALE PLUG ON ONE END, AND THE STANDARD 1/4″ HEADPHONE JACK (FEMALE) ON THE OTHER. I KNOW GARRETT OFFER THIS ADAPTER. I “THINK” MINELAB DOES TOO. SO NOW ALL WE THEN NEED IS AN ADAPTER THAT CONNECTS THE 2 FEMALE 1/4″ PLUG RECEIVERS. ALL WE NEED IS A LITTLE DEVICE WITH 2 BACK TO BACK MALE 1/4″ PLUGS TO PLUG INTO THESE OTHER 2 ADAPTERS. SHOULD WORK PERFECT.
