The price of the Whites TRX remains the same. But how should we distinguish between the new Whites TRX (which is for underwater use) and the old one (which isn’t) now?

  • The old TRX’s are also waterproof they just didn’t have the certified waterproof rating yet. I spoke to Whites today about it.

  • In my opinion, waterproof capabilities of the Whites TRX pinpointer aren’t its main problem… Have you tried this device in practice?

The Whites TRX pinpointer can search with a tip only. The center of its scanning side doesn’t see targets. So, you have a tip and a small area in front of the button. And if the pinpointer is lowered into the hole vertically, the Whites TRX will probably see targets. But if you have a dirt pile near the hole and try to locate a target by waving the pinpointer horizontally – in this case, a target can be easily missed (if it happens to be under the center of scanning side).

And false responses! I don’t need the pinpointer with maximum detection depth. To locate a coin, 5 or 6 centimeters are enough. And all the more so, if increase in depth is attended with frequent (very frequent) false responses.

  • Hi.. I just got myself a second hand trx and I’ve come to know about the questionable waterproofness of it, the newer generation DOES have a minor change to the speaker, the older mark has a single bar going over the speaker as the newer mark has a cross placed over the speaker, I am not sure if these changes synchronize to their waterproof certification though but it did catch my eye
