China made Garrett AT PRO (fake). Prices

If Garrett and Minelab don’t come out of deep sleep, there is probability they will stay there. And the Chinese will be producing metal detectors in their stead. See an example: prices for fake Garrett AT PRO from China.

Garrett AT PRO metal detectors in bulk quantity – at $288 a piece… Dear manufacturers, do at least something! It’s a pity Chinese Garrett ACE is already being sold overtly.

  • FAKE DETECTORS,hi,over the pond here in the uk,we are getting swamped with ‘cloned’ detectors as the sellers call them.garrett, first texas products, minelab have all been faked in china,in turn flooding Europe,I am proud to use my usa and British detectors, with their warranty and great service backup.Fakes are destroying the fun for newbies, robbing them and the companys of their cash!

  • what a load of rubbish mate , its called competition

    • Counterfitting is not competition. Chinese manfacturers should come up with their own detectors. And compete with existing brands.

    • RIGHT ON BUD!!! THE AMERICANS ARE JUST TO DUMB TO MAKE SOMETHING CHEAPER!

      • Quality costs money. Paying workers well costs money. Garrett provides both of those things like so many American companies do. It is exactly why we enjoy better quality electronics and a higher standard of living than any country on Earth. It’s not that American companies are too “stupid” to make cheaper products. There are cheaper products if cheap is what you want. Personally I think the AT Pro was and is a good deal at retail. Other companies and other countries have every right to compete with their OWN products, not stealing the whole makeup and logo of a machine. Condoning such blatant thievery and dishonesty says a lot about character.

  • Anyone know if there actually is a AT pro copy? I’ve seen ace 150 and 250 but can’t find the pro

  • I saw one seller on Amazon with this fake Garrett AT Pro for $400 last week. I warned my friends to steer clear of it.

  • Shops on AliExpress come and go, but I saw the same image on FB with a user claiming they saw the listing the day it was posted but no such listing could be found. I’ve looked all over with several combinations of keywords with no luck, just pointer and ace ripoffs. I’m gonna have to say the chance of picking up a fake atpro are slim to none. The only listing I could find on AliExpress was no longer available for sale, was listed for over $1k (plus $153 for shipping!) and clearly stated that particular unit was bought in America. Alot of the propointers are being branded as “g-pointer” now, but there are still a few selling fakes still marked Garrett. The ace ripoffs I saw were just marked with a model number, not a Garrett logo. Buy from a local dealer and you won’t have to worry.

  • I don’t really have a problem with the Chinese copying anything but there is a huge difference between a “copy” and a “counterfeit”. With the copy, you know what you are buying. It will look the same but have a different name on it. They are not trying to pass it off as a Garrett, Fisher or Minelab.

With a counterfeit, you are being duped and deliberately conned into thinking you are buying the original brand product. THAT is definitely something I have an issue with.

Now you could argue that the Chinese should create their own products and stop ripping off everyone else but it just isn’t going to happen so no use bleating on about it.

As long as you know what you are buying and don’t expect the machine to perform like the original….some do by the way! Then nothing to complain about.

    • Good analysis. I think this is about right. I often wonder why they don’t create more of their own products or if the even can. They seem to copy just fine which jives with their high visual spatial IQ. But they are terribly deficient when it comes to innovation and creation of new products, which jives with their shortcomings in creativity. Imagination and verbal IQ. You see this in their almost robotic manner compared with people of the west as well as Eastern Europe.

      • The problem is that our “chinese comrades” have a short supply of
specialists. All their specialist are consumed by heavy industry/space/
military. Who is making metal detectors in China I have no idea!

  • Just bought a fake one from here

Garrett AT PRO - china fake

and also bought a legit one. Excited to see how they do against each other.

    • Did it come as described? I never saw a real faked one, even listed. I had the real pro then the max when it first came out and dumped it off on ebay after testing it like the hot mess it was. The pro was OK but I hated the tones. I scored it on Craigslist at a great price and flipped it after testing and appreciating my other detectors.

  • How can you tell if one is a fake? I just got one from Facebook market and notice it doesn’t have the twist lock pieces on the shaft and the grip is a foam sponge, not rubber.

    • The original first gen AT Pro was exactly as you describe so it’s probably legit. It’s only been recently that the AT Pro was upgraded with cam lock and rubber grip. That was done along with the release of the AT Max.
